A Lasting Heritage

Situated on the banks of the River Trent, Newark is a picturesque town steeped in history. The ruins of Newark Castle have had a huge influence on the unique character of the town. The current remains were built in the early 12th century, there has been a castle on the site since 1068.

A Growing Location

Newark forms a continuous built-up area with the neighbouring parish of Balderton to the south-east. A further extension in recent years includes the modern-day superb of Fernwood. To the south, along the A46, are the villages of Farndon, East Stoke and Elston. To the North further villages such as Winthorpe, Collingham and Besthorpe.

 

Excellent Transport Links

Newark has two railway stations. The East Coast Main Line serves Newark North Gate station, with links to London Kings Cross, Leeds, Hull and Newcastle. Newark Castle station provides cross-country regional links including, Lincoln, Nottingham and Leicester.  The main roads of Newark include the A1 and A46 bypass. The A17 runs east towards Norfolk and the A616 heads North towards Yorkshire.
